Privacy Policy

Baller.ID ("we", "our", or "us") built the Baller.ID app as a free service for tracking football stats and building your digital player identity. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

Data We Collect

Email address	Account creation and login. Not shared with other players.
Display name, position, jersey number	Your public player profile and match card.
Profile photo	Displayed on your player card. Processed for background removal (see Third Parties below).
Match participation and stats (goals, assists, saves)	Core product — powering your performance history and leaderboards.
Trust score, reputation score, archetype	Computed from match data to reflect your reliability and playing style. Never shared externally.
MVP and position votes	Peer recognition system. Votes are stored but individual votes are not visible to other players.
Device identifier	Stored locally (iOS Keychain / Android Secure Storage) so you can recover a guest account after reinstalling the app.
Push notification token	Delivering match invites and result notifications. Only used to send you notifications you have opted into.
Contacts (phone numbers only)	Optional. If you tap "Sync Contacts" and allow access, the phone numbers in your address book are checked against players already on Baller.ID so you can add them as friends. Only the numbers are used — never names, emails or any other contact detail. They are matched in memory during that one request and are never stored on our servers or shared with anyone. The app never accesses your contacts unless you tap Sync Contacts.

Data We Do Not Collect

Location — match location is optional and stored only with the match record, not used to track you.
Precise GPS or movement data.
Payment information — the app is free.

Third-Party Services

PostHog	User ID, email, anonymised events (e.g. "match_created")	Product analytics so we can understand how the app is used and improve it. No advertising use.
remove.bg	Your profile photo (image data)	Automatically removes the background from your avatar. The image is processed and not stored by remove.bg beyond the request.
HuggingFace	Your profile photo (image data)	Checks that the photo contains a person before processing. Image is not retained.
Expo / Firebase FCM	Push notification token	Delivering push notifications to your device.

We do not sell your data to any third party.

Data Retention

Your account and all associated data are retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

You have a 30-day grace period during which you can reactivate your account by logging back in.
After 30 days, your personal information (name, email, photo, push token, device ID) is permanently deleted.
Historical match records are preserved in anonymised form (shown as "Deleted Player") to maintain the integrity of other players' match histories.

Your Rights

Delete your account — available in the app under Settings → Delete Account.
Revoke notifications — disable at any time in your device's notification settings.
Revoke photo access — deny or revoke via your device's app permissions. You can still use the app without uploading a photo.
Revoke contact access — deny or revoke via your device's app permissions. Every feature except contact sync works without it.
Request your data — email us and we will provide a copy of your stored data within 30 days.

Children

Baller.ID is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest revision.
